Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy Regain Career-Best World No. 5 Ranking

Following their title-winning run at the Badminton Asia Championship, the renowned Indian men's doubles team of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty on Tuesday regained their career-best ranking of no. 5 in the world.

The couple who won the bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships ended a 58-year wait by winning the continental championships, becoming the first Indians to do so since Dinesh Khanna.

In the most recent BWF rankings, Satwik and Chirag, who had attained the world number 5 rankings in December of previous year, climbed one spot to reclaim the position.

In a thrilling final, Satwik and Chirag had upset the Malaysian team of Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi 16-21, 21-17, 21-19.

Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun, another Indian duo, also jumped four points to take the 23rd slot globally.

HS Prannoy remained in ninth position in the men's singles competition, while Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen advanced one rank to 22nd and 23rd, respectively. In the world rankings, Mithun Manjunath rose five spots to number 41.

Tanya Hemanth rose to 55th place in the women's singles, while PV Sindhu fell to world no. 12.

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, a women's doubles team, rose two positions to take the number 17 slot in the world.
