Controversy Surrounds Prabhas and Kriti Sanon’s Film ‘Adipurush’ as Hindu Sena Files Petition Against It

New Delhi:

The film ‘Adipurush’, starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, is surrounded by controversies. The Hindu Sena has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court demanding that the film not be certified for public exhibition. Vishnu Gupta, the National President of the Hindu Sena, filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against ‘Adipurush’ in the Delhi High Court on Friday.

‘Adipurush’ is facing criticism for its VFX quality and the use of dialogues in a “Tapori” style spoken by the actor portraying the role of Lord Hanuman. Critics have reviewed the film seriously and described it as reminiscent of old films. Meanwhile, the Film Certification Board of Nepal has expressed objections to the dialogue referring to “Sita as India’s daughter.”

In the filed petition at the Delhi High Court, Mr. Gupta stated, “This is a writ petition in the nature of a PIL under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issuance of an appropriate writ directing the respondents to remove objectionable scenes portraying religious leaders/characters/figures in a derogatory manner that hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. It also seeks an order restraining the opponents from certifying the feature film ‘Adipurush’ for public exhibition and issuing any other or further orders of a similar nature in the future.”

The petition further alleges that the film “portrays religious leaders/characters/figures in an incorrect and inappropriate manner, thereby hurting the sentiments of the Hindu community.”

Vishnu Gupta, the National President of the Hindu Sena, has accused the film of mocking the Ramayana, Lord Rama, and the culture of the country in the filed petition. In addition, he has requested the Delhi High Court to issue an order for the removal of several objectionable scenes involving Ravana, Rama, Sita, and Hanuman in ‘Adipurush’.

It should be noted that in the film, Prabhas plays the role of Raghav (Rama), Kriti Sanon plays the role of Janaki (Sita), Sunny Singh plays the role of Shesh (Lakshmana), and Saif Ali Khan plays the role of Lankesh (Ravana). It is directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series. Despite mixed reviews, the film is expected to have a massive opening day collection at the box office.
