Mari Selvaraj’s screenplay and direction of Maamannan, which debuted on June 29, was well-received by the audience. But as of late, the film’s subject matter has also generated criticism. Rathinavel, played by actor Fahadh Faasil, is shown as having a caste-biased worldview. Actor Vadivelu, on the other hand, plays a legislative representative for the fictitious Samatthu Samathu Neeti Makkal Kazhagam.

This political party’s flag is made of two colors, red and black, and is similar to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party flag in design. Reports have questioned if Maamannan is a propaganda-driven movie produced at the DMK’s request before to the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, keeping these factors in mind.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-50713″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-in-response-to-reports-calling-maamannan-a-propaganda-driven-film-udhayanidhi-stalin-pti12-14-2022-000154b-750×528.jpg” alt=”” width=”1479″ height=”1041″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-in-response-to-reports-calling-maamannan-a-propaganda-driven-film-udhayanidhi-stalin-pti12-14-2022-000154b-750×528.jpg 750w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-in-response-to-reports-calling-maamannan-a-propaganda-driven-film-udhayanidhi-stalin-pti12-14-2022-000154b-1024×721.jpg 1024w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-in-response-to-reports-calling-maamannan-a-propaganda-driven-film-udhayanidhi-stalin-pti12-14-2022-000154b-768×541.jpg 768w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-in-response-to-reports-calling-maamannan-a-propaganda-driven-film-udhayanidhi-stalin-pti12-14-2022-000154b-150×106.jpg 150w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-in-response-to-reports-calling-maamannan-a-propaganda-driven-film-udhayanidhi-stalin-pti12-14-2022-000154b.jpg 1200w” sizes=”(max-width: 1479px) 100vw, 1479px” />

Udhayanidhi Stalin, who plays Veeran in Maamannan, is a supporter of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam political party. In addition, he oversees the development of sports and youth welfare. In response to the uproar, Udhayanidhi said that whomever committed this error, it may be corrected at a later time. Additionally, he said that he is unsure of whether he would continue performing in movies at this time.

In addition to this, Maamannan ran into problems when a movie producer by the name of Rama Saravanan petitioned to have it pulled from theaters. After hearing this argument, the Madras High Court sent Udhayanidhi and his in-house production Red Giant Movies a notice. The actor and politician had been urged to finish filming and dubbing for his movie Angel.

According to rumors, the petitioner wanted the Oru Kal Oru Kannadi star to pay her 25 crore rupees in damages. The petition claims that by the time Angel began filming in 2018, 80% of the scenes had been shot. However, it was unable to progress for a number of reasons, including the COVID-19 epidemic and Udhayanidhi’s appointment to the state Council of Ministers.

Later, the producer claimed that Udhayanidhi was not delivering the dates required by the contract in order to finish the last 20% of the film’s filming. The actor broke his contract by taking on a different movie before Angel was finished, according to the plea. The temporary injunction request made against Maamannan was denied by the Madras High Court’s Madurai bench.
