Neeraj Chopra, a gold medallist at the Olympics, said on Monday that the global Championship is his top focus right now. He said, “It’s crucial to stay injury free but I have to improve on my fitness, particularly before the global championships. I must allow myself enough time to get ready. since of the injury, I had to cut down on my training since I had to travel a little. Now I have to exert more effort. I had been concentrating on the injury, but now I must concentrate on my workouts.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-56673″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-certain-of-reaching-the-90-meter-mark-soon-mr-neeraj-chopra-download-2023-07-04t094756.677.jpg” alt=”” width=”1028″ height=”684″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-certain-of-reaching-the-90-meter-mark-soon-mr-neeraj-chopra-download-2023-07-04t094756.677.jpg 275w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-certain-of-reaching-the-90-meter-mark-soon-mr-neeraj-chopra-download-2023-07-04t094756.677-150×100.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1028px) 100vw, 1028px” />
“We have tournaments every 15 days,” the athlete said after the World Championships. I believe I have enough points to enter the World Diamond League Finals right now. This season, the diamond league finals will include the top six players. I believe that my 16 points (based on two victories in Doha and Lausanne) are sufficient. However, if I believe I am injury-free, I may participate in another. The Asian Games are followed by the Diamond League in Zurich, followed by the Diamond League finals. We need to assess our performance in such competitions.

“At the moment, I’ll concentrate on getting in shape for Budapest. The Diamond League final is not under any pressure to perform well. I can keep up my fitness for a very long period if I prepare adequately for Budapest. Not just for the Worlds, but also for the rest of the season, we will be psychologically strong. I haven’t made up my mind about playing in the Monaco Diamond League. We have twenty days to make a choice. We will go if we feel physically fit, but as of right now, it seems I will fly straight to the planets. My ailment and physical conditioning will get better if we prepare for that.” He thought
Neeraj was questioned about reaching the coveted 90-meter barrier at a virtual press conference hosted by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). The champion thrower said, “Whether I achieve the 90-meter throw depends on the perfect moment and circumstances. Due to my rehabilitation, I had to skip a few competitions. These competitions were place in pleasant weather. I believe I may have had a shot to reach the 90-meter barrier if I had competed in these competitions. Conditions were not ideal in Lausanne. It rained and was chilly. In light of such circumstances, my throw was effective. There is fierce competition for us. We have the Asian Games and the Worlds. I’ve got time to be ready for them. There isn’t much pressure to reach 90 metres.
“I can only think about throwing as effectively as I can. Even though I may not have had the 90-meter throw, I believe the proper moment will arrive at some point. There will be the (90m) throw. It’s more crucial to succeed. That is the objective. It will happen when the circumstances are ideal and I have had time to improve my fitness.
Neeraj said that the most of the best tournaments are in Europe when asked how he managed to finish first in Lausanne despite a highly competitive field. When we transition from hot to cold temperatures, we run into trouble. We struggle in cold weather because we are not acclimated to the heat. For Europeans who are used to this, it is different. Even though I was wearing a jacket in Lausanne, I was still shivering. Staying warm wasn’t simple. The athletes from Europe, on the other hand, were dressed in shorts. It’s quite distinctive. They have difficulties in Asia, he said.
“Under such circumstances, I was focused. I want to give every throw all I’ve got. But I’m not always able to throw 89 metres. That figure will fluctuate. Some passes will go further than others. Usually, my first toss is successful. But I always say I have to keep myself prepared till the last throw if it doesn’t go. I’m of the opinion that I can still make a decent throw up to the very final throw.
After almost two months, he said that taking part in Lausanne had changed him physically and emotionally. “At the Doha Diamond League, I was extremely physically fit. However, after the muscular strain, the emphasis shifted to injury and recovery. My fitness level was a bit lower as a result of that. That also had a mental impact on me. When an issue arises in the midst of the game, you ask yourself, “How will I handle this? Can I come back before the season is over?” Obtaining points to advance to the Diamond League finals is the primary goal of the Diamond League. I think I would have worked a little more if I had been competing in the Asian Games or the Worlds.
When asked whether he had a special strategy for a competition, he said, “My plan is always to throw as far as I can. Not because I was holding off until the sixth throw. I always need to get warmed up. There isn’t really a plan for choosing which throw to work on. If you make a good first throw, you’ll feel terrific and the other competitors will feel some pressure. I always want to make a strong opening toss. However, if it doesn’t work, you must persevere and give it your all. Again, just because I make a strong throw does not guarantee that I will succeed.I threw 89 metres in the Stockholm Diamond League (the previous year), and Anderson Peters followed with a 90-meter throw. You must remain ready until the very last shot. While it’s true that my first throw is generally excellent, there have also been occasions when my final throws have been strong. Prior to the final throw, which I managed to win at the 2017 Asian Championships, I was nowhere in the race. I wish to assert that the first and last throws are identical. I remain prepared until the very last shot.
He also discussed injury prevention, adding, “Training was going well at the beginning of the season, and I was injury-free. However, it is not up to the athlete to avoid harm. It takes time to heal when it has occurred. I have had a lot of assistance from TOPS, SAI, and the Athletics Federation of India. My strong team is also helpful. We were able to talk with the doctor, and I was able to listen to his advise and go to work right away. Injury is the only thing I have to worry about. Everything else will go well if that occurs.
